Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
