Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
