NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he loved participating in various card games at a young age. He found himself getting very aggressive in these card games while playing his father. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to put higher education on hold for a little bit and moved away to New York City to play some big-time chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were tough as he played extensive hours and lose most times. He earned some extra money by becoming an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he possibly could boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus even more on the game.

The definite advancement in his abilities happened when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would often challenge one another. He had access into some of the best minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would hone his logical thinking abilities. Howard used these strategy ideas in the game of NL hold’em.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of the game as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and compete in the WSOP tournaments. She is one of the best female players the poker arena ever. Howard moved to Vegas in 1993 and participated in money games for the next decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
